Jonty had arranged to pick Tommy an myself up at "6am sharp" and true to his word he arrived at 6.05 (tsk tsk! ) We then set off to pick Tony up at his gaff,so all in the car, gear sorted, and it was off to Rhyl for a day aboard our second home!We arrived at Rhyll a bit early cause Jonty had to pick jay up from his caravan so in the meantime we found a cafe and ordered the obligatory 'bacon sarnie', and in no time we were on the slipway waiting for the 'big red one' to arrive, in the meantime we introduced ourselves to another angler who was fishing on board with us that day(nice to meet you Roy )anyways Steve pulled up alongside the slip and we all boarded the Supreme and off we headed to the windfarms to see what was about, no sooner had Steve called the all in, we were into fish straight away, mostly dabs and whiting, i managed a small codling, but the wind was getting up and the swell was getting a bit uncomfortable so it was decided that we would head back closer inshore. On arrival at our first stop we carried on with the scratching rigs whilst also fishing a big bait in the hope for a 'special' critter to wander past, and the first Thornie was soon landed to Tony (who hasn,t been seafishing that long and never caught a ray)

To say he was pleased was an understatement, he went from novice to expert in a matter of minutes freely giving out advice based on his wealth of experience of thornie bashin (thanks for the pointers m8 )
No really, it was a pleasure to see someone over the moon with his new species, well done m8.
The bites slowed a bit after a while so we moved again back towards Rhyl with the hope of another thornie, and who knows maybe an early smoothie.
Unfortunately the smooth ones didn,t show but the dabs and whiting kept us busy untill Jonty connected with the second thornie of the day.

Nice one J.There was a bit of banter (well more like a full blooded argument as to who,s ray was the biggest) but Tony soon settled that dispute with his second (and last of the day)thornie which weighed in at 5lb 15oz an ounce heavier than Jonty,s, but it was enough to give Tony the pot of money as his prize (4 quid!!)

And that was it really. Not many pics i,m afraid, but everyone caught steady for most off the day and the craic was,as ever, spot on.

Just like to thank Steve for putting us on fish (again) when things are a bit tough.

Oh and here,s another first for our Billy aboard the previuos trip.
His first Huss.

Ugly innit!!

Nice looking huss though
